Bright blue sky at a warm 27°C, over 40 registered skaters from young to old, funky sounds, the beer chilled and the bratwurst sizzling on the grill - the conditions for the first NIKIN skate contest in Hammerpark Lenzburg could hardly be better be better. All profits are then passed on to our tree planting partner One Tree Planted and invested in planting trees worldwide.

On the late summer Sunday afternoon, September 9th, 2018, the skate contest organized by NIKIN will take place for the first time. You can register for the contest from 11 a.m., but long before that the first skaters are already warming up and turning and jumping over the skateboard facility that was set up under the A1 motorway bridge around five years ago.

All the preparations are slowly being completed, the DJ console is installed, the NIKIN shop is set up, the sausages are on the grill and soon the area is filling up more and more with onlookers who are listening to funky beats from the two DJs Chuck Boris and get Mario excited for the upcoming first run.

The DJs Chuck Boris and Mario ensure a great atmosphere with hot tunes.

At exactly 1 p.m., speaker Mattia, who leads the approximately 40 skaters and the large number of spectators through the contest, signals the start of the first of two runs. Each skater is given exactly one minute to show off their skills in the park and impress the three-person jury, John, Ralph and Bruce. Free participation offers the audience a large field of different age groups and skate types who compete against each other and make the contest all the more attractive. Everyone from 11 to 30 year olds and from German to French-speaking Swiss skaters are represented, ensuring a diverse competition and a great atmosphere among all participants. Fortunately, numerous skaters from the NIKIN Teamriders are also represented. Only the surprisingly hot September sun is a problem, but with plenty to drink and a place in the shade, the contest can still be enjoyed to the fullest.

From young to old - the diversity makes the competition extremely exciting.

After the first two runs, which have already offered a lot of spectacle, and a short break, the skaters qualified for the final will prepare for their two final runs, each lasting 45 seconds, at around 5 p.m. In the sweltering heat, the TreeCaps are in high demand in the shop and thirst and hunger ensure that the grill and refrigerator are running at full speed all the time.

From the final rounds, there is once again a tough competition between the finalists, but four of them stand out and are able to win over the jury and ultimately win the first NIKIN skate contest in Lenzburg, Aargau. 16-year-old Noel Schärer took third place, second place was shared by Martin Rechtsteiner and Lucas Bigün and we warmly congratulate Lino Häfeli from Aarau on first place, who amazed the spectators with an incredible jump over the park fence out of the park brings. Lucas Bigün wins the “Best Trick” with a “Trick Fakie Cab Flip”.

The first NIKIN skate contest was a huge success and brought great joy to everyone involved. A lot of passion, action and a good mood made this day very special. We would like to thank all the tireless helpers, all the spectators who found their way to Lenzburg despite the bad weather and of course the numerous skaters, without whom the implementation of the contest would not have been possible.

We are already looking forward to the second round of the NIKIN Skate Contest next year, probably at the same time and at the same place, and we hope that we might be able to welcome some skaters too. ;-)
